Are you feeling overwhelmed now that life is back in full swing? After experiencing life a little differently and adjusting to lockdowns, home schooling and isolation, pandemic life felt like we were living in the slow lane. Now life is resuming to the frantic pace that we were once accustomed to and so many women are just not coping. If this sounds like you, let us reassure you, you are not alone.

Its time to take yourself back to living purposefully and passionately. Reignite that spark that is within you. Live wholeheartedly. You know putting yourself first is the key – it will help you get through the day with more clarity, energy and enthusiasm. Here are our three key strategies and tips to help you reset and recharge. Plus some information on our upcoming Reset Retreat, a one day women’s event in our Wellness Hub in Melbourne.

Healthy Habits

The way we lived was completely upheaved during the pandemic. Regular routines and plans were thrown out the window and so too were many healthy habits. Now that you are readjusting, create routines to nurture yourself which also benefits those around you. When you create a routine it feels like it’s a normal part of your day and it’s something you don’t have to give much thought to.

  • Nourishment
Eating for nourishmet is simple when you stick with foods that are in season, fresh and packed full of natural goodness. Stick with simple recipies that are easy or prepare ahead of time for those busy evenings. If you want to be super organised, prepare a meal plan so that you’re making the most of what you buy each week without throwing food away.
  • Movement
Create time in your day or week for regular movement activity – yoga, walking, running, dancing – whatever activity you enjoy! Block it out in your diary and set up a reminder in your phone. Regular movement increases those feel good hormones (endorphins) so that you feel better in your mind, body and soul. You’ll notice a substantial increase in energy and begin to look forward to the feeling it gives you.
  • Sleep
Ensure you’re getting enough sleep so that your body is rested and refreshed each day. A regular bedtime routine will help you unwind from a busy day. Set a reminder in your phone at an approrpirate time to wind down. You may also like to try some evening rituals such as listening to soothing music, taking a bath, inhaling essential oils, reading or meditating to help you unwind before your head hits the pillow.

Mindfulness

When life is busy your mind will begin to mirror the stress a busy life creates. If you don’t address it and create mindful practices you are likely to feel overwhelmed and unable to cope. You will feel like you do not have the capacity to think clearly, stress levels are heightened, you’ll have a million thoughts running through your mind and find it difficult to focus. The simplest way to overcome this is with mindfulness. Here are our three favourite mindful practices for you to try.

  • Meditation
Meditation creates stillness, reduces stress and helps control anxiety. When your mind Is free you will have increased clarity and greater focus. If you’re a beginner, start a simple and short guided meditation and build this into your evening routine to quiet your mind after a busy day. • Journaling
Journaling is the practice of keeping a diary/journal for self-expression. It requires the application of both the right and left side of the brain and is known to enhance your sense of wellbeing, boost your mood and improve memory. You can also incorporate or replace journalling with noting your daily/weekly gratitude.
  • Yoga
Yoga is the pratice of bringing together the mind and body through breathing exercises and poses. These are designed to encourage movement, relaxation and reduce stress. Natalie offers yoga classes for beginners and those more advanced, click here to learn more.

Cultivate a Growth Mindset

Your mindset is your greatest tool. Learning to harness it’s power and cultivate a growth mindset is a really effective way to remain focussed, positive, assertive and empowered. You know that little voice in your mind that focusses on the negative? Well, you need to let that go! Learn to…

  • Embrace your imperfections, after all they’re what make you unique.
  • Learn to view challenges as opportunities.
  • Always keep trying

The next time you find yourself giving yourself negative talk… stop. Take a moment to adjust the what you’re saying to yourself and what you’re thinking. Replace the negative with a positive to cultivate your growth mindset.
